Aquidneck: 80' Schooner. Morning, Afternoon & Sunset Sails

Oct 22, 2018 - Oct 28, 2018

Relaxing, stable and smooth sailing! Aquidneck is our largest boat; an elegant reproduction of a late 19th century coasting schooner that was designed and built specifically to carry guests in safety and comfort.

Sail through historic Newport Harbor and into picturesque Narragansett Bay.

See Fort Adams, the largest coastal fort in the U.S., Goat Island, a WWII outpost, Hammersmith Farm, the former summer Whitehouse of JFK, Clingstone, an iconic house on an island, America’s Cup yachts, megayachts, lighthouses and more.

Light, informative commentary provided by friendly, knowledgeable, USCG licensed captain and crew.

Help hoist sails, take a turn at the wheel or sit back and relax.

Aquidneck is named after Aquidneck Island, the island on which Newport is located and is an Indian name meaning ‘Isle of peace’.

Aquidneck offers very steady, stable and smooth sailing. Queasiness is never an issue.

Wide, open decks provide plenty of space for moving about while chair-height cabin tops, and teak benches provide comfortable seating, space to relax and lounge.

Sit back and relax as you take in the elegant varnished trim, traditional gaff rigging, coiled lines and 4 billowing sails of our 80 foot, turn-of-the century style schooner.

A great sail for both young and old.

Aquidneck offers an Early Bird Morning sail on weekdays, Morning Mimosa Sails on weekends, afternoon and sunset sails.

Sunset Sails include complimentary champagne, beer, soda and water in the ticket price.

Sails are approximately 1 3/4 hours.

Public Sail Tickets appear online and go on sale 21 days before departure versus Private Charters which may be booked year round. See full schedule under Schedule and Rates.

Give yourself plenty of time to get into town and find a place to park. Traffic in to Newport can be heavy. Parking lots, spaces and meters fill quickly especially on weekends. Public Sails Cancellations:

Weather Cancellations:
Bring your sense of adventure! Our sails do run in moderately inclement conditions which include light to medium fog, cool weather, light, on/off sprinkles and in cloudy, overcast conditions. We will not cancel a "sunset sail" because of cloudy, overcast conditions. We will cancel a sail in the event of sustained rain, lightning, heavy fog, high winds, if threatening weather appears imminent or the captain deems it dangerous to sail.
If we cancel your sail, you will be refunded 100% of the purchase price or given the chance to reschedule.
If you decide to not show up because of weather conditions and conditions are such that we do sail, you may have denied others from going who wanted to sail. Therefore, No-Show, No Refund.
Due to rapidly changing weather conditions on Aquidneck Island, decisions are often typically not made until 30 minutes prior to the departure time of your sail not on the 5 day forecast that invariably calls for a "chance of thunderstorms".
If you are traveling from far away and are concerned about an inclement forecast, we encourage you to purchase your tickets closer to the day you would like to sail. Unless it's a weekend or holiday, we generally have tickets available the day of. Please note that sunset sails tend to fill up first.
Service dogs are permitted, pets are not. Please call us in advance if you plan to bring a service dog.
Medical Conditions:
Sightsailing is not ADA compliant. If you require assistance to board, please call us directly to fully understand how we can fully assist you and plan for your arrival. Generally, we allow passengers with limited mobility to board first.
Any medical condition an individual has must be managed by him/herself and you should not rely on the ship having any sophisticated medical capability during a sail. You must bring your own medication with adequate supply beyond your expected time on the ship. Notify the captain of any serious medical conditions before the ship departs.
